Ch. Cherokee Mardel Sage came into the world April 14,
1992, bred by Cody Sickle, June Sickle, and Donald and Adele Trandum. I purchased her
from Cody, choosing to have a permanent co-ownership with him. The history of
Legend Bulldogs was signed, sealed and delivered in a ten-week-old puppy bitch,
who I named “Sage.” Her Sire, BIS and BISS Ch. Millcoats Titus, is the top
producing Bulldog stud in breed history. Hall of Fame, Beckett Award winner, and
capturing the National Specialty in 1995, this was Titus. Sage's Dam, Cherokee
Falon is in the BCA Hall of Fame for producers and the recipient of the Beckett
Award. Sage attained her championship at 12 months of age, with
three five-point majors. After whelping a litter of six, she went on to
capture 33 Best In Specialty Shows. She was BOS at the Bulldog Club of
America National Specialty in 1997, putting her in the National Gallery of
Winners. While winning is certainly a sign of greatness, the true mark of
a great bitch is in the whelping box. Sage is in the BCA Hall of Fame for
producers, capturing the best of both worlds.
The apples sure don’t fall
far from this tree as her first litter produced three Champion get. Her son, Ch.
Cherokee Legend Garth is the sire of BISS Ch. Little Ponds Chief, a Hall of
Fame Stud Dog with over 132 Champion get to his credit. Her daughter, BISS
Ch. Cherokee Legend Flower is BCA National Specialty Award of Merit winner, a
BCA Hall of Fame Producer, and the recipient of the Beckett Award. She is also
the Dam of BISS Ch. Cherokee Legend Mousers Bill and BISS Ch. Cherokee
Legend Donna. This double Sage granddaughter, Donna, has won 46 BISS,
was the #1 Bulldog in the USA in 2001, receiving the Pedigree Award and Best of
Breed at Westminster. In 2004, she won BOS at the BCA National Specialty,
putting her in the National Gallery of Winners with Sage. Ch. Cherokee
Legend Dallas, another Sage daughter, is in the BCA Hall of Fame and is the
Grand Dam of Ch. Cherokee Legend Pretty Boy, a third-tier BCA Hall of Fame Stud Dog. He captured BOS at the BCA National Specialty Show in 2006 putting him in the National Gallery.
Another Sage son is Ch. Cherokee Legend Crazy Horse, a BCA Hall of Fame Stud Dog and sire of Ch. Cherokee Legend Rock. Rock was Best Of Breed at the BCA National Speciality Show in 2007.
Sage died in my arms and was 14 years, 5 months and 12 days old. She certainly made her mark on this wonderful breed, the Bulldog, and she will always be the Queen. |
